Washington hosts Chicago
Week 8 of the 2024/25 NFL season opened with an upset win by the Rams over the Vikings. Washington is 5-2 after easily handling the terrible Carolina Panthers, winning 40-7 with Marcus Mariota under center for the majority of the game. The Commanders are home again and hosting the Chicago Bears. Washington opened as 1.5 point underdogs, with the line shifting towards the Bears after Jayden Daniels rib injury. That line has gone to -2.5, and was as high as -3.5 after Daniels didn’t practice the first two days. The Over/Under dropped two points to 44.5 after opening at 46.5.
The Bears come into this game with a 4-2 record, and are coming off of their bye week. Their last game was a 35-16 beatdown of the London Jaguars. Caleb Williams was the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft, and this will be his return to his hometown area. He was the early offensive rookie of the year favorite, but Washington Commanders No. 2 overall pick Jayden Daniels has overtaken him due to his record-breaking play over the first 7 games.
Jayden Daniels suffered a rib injury on Washington’s opening play last week, and was listed as questionable for today’s game. He had a limited practice on Friday, and then was evaluated during a walkthrough yesterday. Daniels will get the start today, with Marcus Mariota ready to come in if he is needed. Jeff Driskel is inactive, but will be the emergency 3rd QB.
