Tonight marks the first round of the NFL Draft and it’s the first time John Clayton won’t be around for it.
Clayton passed away last month at the age of 67 following a battle with a brief illness.
The Seattle Seahawks have paid tribute to Clayton in their draft war room. They have a seat reserved for his name after covered the organization throughout his career.

Im sitting here doing prep work for the @NFL draft.
Caught myself thinking about @JohnClaytonNFL. First draft in decades we won’t get his take on picks and trades.
We analyst owe it to him to bring it tomorrow! Let’s go! #NFLDraft #JohnClayton

Clayton covered the NFL for five decades and focused mainly on the Pittsburgh Steelers and Seattle Seahawks.
He also spent 22 years with ESPN and was one of the first true NFL insiders.
Our hearts go out to Clayton’s family and friends during this time.
