The Green Bay Packers could be moving off of one of the most impactful members of their defense over the past few seasons.
On Monday, reports surfaced that the team is expected to release two-time Pro Bowler Za’Darius Smith.
In two healthy seasons with Green Bay, Smith racked up 107 tackles, 26 sacks, 60 QB Hits and five forced fumbles.

One half of the Packers’ Smith brothers, Za’Darius appeared in just one regular season game this past season. Smith lasted only 18 snaps in Week 1 before succumbing to a lingering back issue.
The pass rusher’s back surgery held him out most of the year. But, he was activated off the IR in January and able to be on the field for Green Bay’s Divisional Round loss to the 49ers.

Should the Packers indeed part ways with Smith, he’ll likely be one of the more coveted outside linebackers on the free agent market. At 6-foot-4, 272-pounds, Za’Darius Smith is an incredible athlete flying off the edge.
Smith was buried on the Ravens depth chart earlier in his career; but once he got his chance he quickly proved how productive he could be.
