The LSU Tigers got a massive transfer quarterback on Sunday.
Brian Kelly was able to pull former Arizona State quarterback Jayden Daniels from the portal and he very wll could start next season.
Daniels has been the starter for the last three seasons at Arizona State and brings a wealth of experience to the locker room as well.
ESPN’s Paul Finebaum thinks that this move could be Kelly’s version of what Ed Orgeron got in Joe Burrow when he transferred to Baton Rouge.
“I think it is a very big story,” Finebaum said on WJOX out of Alabama. “Is this going to be a transformational moment for Brian Kelly? This guy is a really good quarterback. You guys all know that. But is that all they need? Joe Burrow played two years there and he also had a cast around him that was spectacular. I don’t think LSU does. But I think it was smart. I think Brian Kelly probably doesn’t know what he has, but this guy is probably better than everyone who has migrated.”
Daniels had a bit of a down year this year with 10 touchdowns and 10 interceptions off of 2,380 yards passing.
That said, he was outstanding in 2019 when he threw for 2,943 yards, plus had 17 touchdowns and two interceptions.
With spring practice right around the corner, Daniels will have his first shot to win the starting job.
