Brandon Aiyuk’s contract squabble with the San Francisco 49ers has been in the headlines for weeks. Those headlines have included the Washington Commanders, with Aiyuk continuing to tease a potential trade to join his close friend, rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels.
The truth is, Aiyuk is not going anywhere. The 49ers are in win-now mode, and losing Aiyuk would be a difficult blow. Secondly, for as much as Washington general manager Adam Peters would love for Aiyuk to follow him from San Francisco, the Commanders aren’t giving the 49ers the draft capital it would take to make a deal.
Washington will be fine at wide receiver. Terry McLaurin remains one of the NFL’s top wideouts, while Jahan Dotson could enjoy a breakout season in Kliff Kingsbury’s offseason. Rookie Luke McCaffrey has already established a rapport with Daniels.
Can the Commanders’ wide receivers be a team strength in 2024? Pro Football Focus recently graded every NFL team’s wide receiver groups. How did Washington grade out compared to the rest of the league?
Let’s find out.
