If there’s one thing that stands out about new Washington quarterback Carson Wentz, it is his impressive arm strength. From his five years with the Philadelphia Eagles to his one season with the Colts, Wentz has proven to be one of the better deep passers in the NFL.
NFL’s Next Gen Stats recently ranked Wentz as one of the NFL’s top 10 deep-ball passers from 2021.
Pro Football Focus has now weighed in, analyzing the top 10 deep passers from the 2021 season. PFF’s list is obviously different from Next Gen Stats, but Wentz is also included in PFF’s version.
Arizona’s Kyler Murray ranked No. 1 per PFF, and Wentz came in at No. 8.

The Colts-turned-Commanders quarterback ranked seventh among starters in both turnover-worthy play rate (4.5%) and passer rating (107.8) on deep passes last season. He went 25-of-59 for 842 yards, seven touchdowns and only three picks.
Washington fans, it’s good to be excited about Wentz. While there are questions surrounding his game, he does several things well. Throwing the deep ball is one of those things. And with the Commanders adding first-round pick Jahan Dotson to a wide receiver corps that features Terry McLaurin, Curtis Samuel and Dyami Brown, there is genuine excitement about the passing game in 2022.
