Duke men’s basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski could be coaching in his final game on Saturday night.
Of course, he hopes that isn’t the case. He and the Blue Devils are just hours away from the Final Four matchup against a familiar foe: the North Carolina Tar Heels.
Coach K is retiring after the 2021-22 college basketball season. He and his family hope that he will do so with another national title under his belt. If Duke can take down the Tar Heels tonight, he’ll be just one game away from that reality.
The legendary basketball coach said family is a major part of his decision to retire.
“That’s part of it,” he told TSN. “The other thing is, Mickie, we’ve been married 52 years. We have 10 grandchildren; they’re all here. They’ve made a lot of sacrifices. And again, my daughters and my family would be all for me, whatever I would do. But Mickie and I have talked about it for a couple years.”

Coach K, who began his career as an assistant at Indiana before taking the head coaching job at Army, married his wife on the day of graduation in 1969.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Coach K’s wife played a major role in his decision to take a break during the 1994-95 season and get some much-needed rest.

Coach K and his wife hope their journey isn’t quite over just yet. If they can get past North Carolina tonight, they’d play in the NCAA title game on Monday night.
Will Duke get the win?
