Offseason activities are happening!
The Washington Commanders are back in Ashburn for Phase 3 of offseason activities(OTAs). Defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr spoke to the media before today’s practice. Today is also the first day of media availability. Terry McLaurin, Laremy Tunsil, and Marshon Lattimore aren’t at today’s practice session again according to multiple reports. McLaurin had been participating in other phases of OTAs, but reportedly wants a new deal, and GM Adam Peters has said they’ve been working towards that mutual goal after the season ended.

Joe Whitt Jr on Jordan Magee:
We had a package that we wanted to run with him last year, w the (knee) injury we werent able to, we want to get more three LB pkgs vs nickel to sure up vs the run. He’s he’s had great call command, and hes learned a lot from Bobby Wagner. pic.twitter.com/3COxEi4gk8— Mitchell Tischler (@Mitch_Tischler) June 4, 2025
Marshon Lattimore:
Whitt said they’ve been in communication with CB Marshon Lattimore. “We’ll see where he is when he gets here,” Whitt said.

Quan Martin:
Whitt said he briefly dropped Quan Martin to the second-team last offseason because the safety was making too many mistakes. Then Quan impressed over the next three practices and kept it up.

“He has the potential to be one of the better safeties in this league. That’s what I’m expecting with him.” Joe Whitt on Quan Martin https://t.co/F5m00HgPSw

What has come out about Quan Martin is crazy. Played much of last season with not one but two separated shoulders. And yet played on 87.1% of regular-season defensive snaps & 92.6% in the postseason. And played special teams! High praise from Joe Whitt Jr. today. Well-deserved.

Across the board at Commanders OTAs, I’m seeing more speed. Much faster off the line of scrimmage, in drills, etc. The coaches have talked about this being a point of emphasis and it shows.
