Washington hits the field for the first day of training camp

The Washington Commanders are back in Ashburn for the first day of training camp practices. General manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn spoke to the media yesterday, and Quinn was back answering questions before the start of practice. The big news of the day was second-round rookie DT Jer’Zhan “Johnny” Newton being cleared to practice five days after being placed on the Non-Football Injury list following surgeries to both of his feet.

QB Jayden Daniels, the No. 2 overall pick in this year’s draft will be getting a lot of attention during training camp. Quinn and Peters said they would let the process of him earning the starting job happen naturally, with veteran Marcus Mariota working, and competing, with him during camp.
