Late Friday night, ESPN analyst Kimberley Martin said five teams showed interest in Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.
She listed the Carolina Panthers, Cleveland Browns, New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers and Seattle Seahawks. She also noted the Philadelphia Eagles expressed interest at first, but have backed off.
“The teams I’ve been told that have been interested in Deshaun Watson for a while — and/or were closely monitoring today’s grand jury outcome: CAR NO CLE SEA PIT,” she said. “PHI had expressed interest, but seems to have cooled of late.”
Not long later, multiple reporters came out and suggested the Steelers are NOT interested in a trade for Watson. CBS Sports insider Jason La Canfora was one of those who suggested the Steelers won’t be making a trade for the star quarterback.
“The Steelers are not going to be a part of this Deshaun Watson pursuit,” La Canfora reported.

Just under a half hour later, fellow NFL insider Aaron Wilson also said the Steelers are not pursuing Watson.
“The Pittsburgh Steelers have not and are not expected to be a player in the Deshaun Watson trade market,” he said.

With Ben Roethlisberger retirement, it would make sense for the Steelers to consider all quarterback options. However, given Big Ben’s checkered past with sexual misconduct and the nature of the allegations against Watson, it seems Pittsburgh isn’t interested.
Where will Watson land next? We’ll find out soon.
