The Los Angeles Rams won’t be picking in this year’s draft until the third round, but that doesn’t mean they can’t add some impact players to their championship core.
According to NFL insider Matt Lombardo, the Rams will meet with Georgia running back James Cook this Saturday.
Cook, the brother of Vikings star tailback Dalvin Cook, is projected to be a mid-round pick in this year’s draft. In his final season at Georgia, he had 728 rushing yards, 284 receiving yards and 11 total touchdowns.
The Rams’ depth chart at running back consists of Cam Akers, Darrell Henderson Jr. and Jake Funk. It wouldn’t hurt to add an explosive playmaker like Cook to Sean McVay’s backfield.

Of course, draft meetings like this don’t necessarily mean the team is targeting this particular player. That being said, Cook would be a perfect fit in McVay’s offense.
Perhaps the Rams will consider using some of their Day 3 picks to move up the board and select Cook.
The NFL Draft will begin on April 28 and run through April 30.
