Ranking all the remaining quarterbacks in the NFL playoff picture, including Jayden Daniels

January 3, 2025 by Redskins Wire

The Washington Commanders are heading to the playoffs. Regardless of what happens in Week 18, Washington will likely either play at Los Angeles (Rams) or Tampa Bay (Buccaneers) in the NFC Wild Card round next week.

Most of the playoff field is set. Six NFC teams have clinched playoff berths, but the NFC South is still up for grabs. If the Bucs win on Sunday, they’ll be in, but if they lose and the Falcons win, Atlanta will win the NFC South.

So, heading into this weekend’s slate of games, 17 teams are still alive in the playoff race.

Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report recently ranked the 17 quarterbacks still alive for the postseason. Where did Gagnon rank Jayden Daniels of the Commanders?

7. Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders: Three interceptions over the past two weeks, and obviously, there’s a large element of unknown with a rookie in the playoffs. That said, it’s been a special maiden season for a guy with four fourth-quarter comebacks, a top-10 passer rating and 864 rushing yards.

No surprise, Daniels is ranked above all of the rookies and several veterans. He’s much higher than last year’s rookie sensation, C.J. Stroud.

Here are Gagnon’s top-17.

  1. Lamar Jackson, Ravens
  2. Josh Allen, Bills
  3. Joe Burrow, Bengals
  4. Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs
  5. Jared Goff, Lions
  6. Justin Herbert, Chargers
  7. Daniels
  8. Tua Tagovailoa, Dolphins
  9. Sam Darnold, Vikings
  10. Baker Mayfield, Buccaneers
  11. Jalen Hurts, Eagles
  12. Jordan Love, Packers
  13. Matthew Stafford, Rams
  14. Russell Wilson, Steelers
  15. C.J. Stroud, Texans
  16. Bo Nix, Broncos
  17. Michael Penix Jr., Falcons

What do you think of Daniels’ ranking? Too high or too low? It’s clear no one looks at Daniels like your typical rookie quarterback. Over the last two weeks, Daniels’ clutch gene has shown, leading the Commanders to comeback wins on their final possessions, including ending the Eagles’ 10-game winning streak.

As for the other rankings, we aren’t the only ones who already see Daniels as the top quarterback in the NFC East.
