Ravens Expected to Add Two Players Ahead of Training Camp

July 26, 2023 by Maryland Sports Blog

The Baltimore Ravens are expected to make two new additions ahead of the start of training camp, with the first practice expected to take place on Wednesday.

The Ravens added depth to their cornerback room as they are in agreement on a deal with former Pittsburgh Steeler Arthur Maulet. Maulet has spent the last two seasons with the Steelers after previous stints with the New Orleans Saints, Indianapolis, and the New York Jets.

Former Steelers CB Arthur Maulet is nearing an agreement to sign with the Baltimore Ravens, per source.

Maulet played a lot of slot CB and special teams snaps for Pittsburgh last 2 years. And now he could play against Steelers twice a year.

Undrafted out of the University of Memphis in 2017, Maulet has struggled to make his presence felt on the defensive side of the ball but has remained a solid special teams player during his time in the NFL. The 5’10”, 190 lbs cornerback has played in 68 career games, totaling 168 tackles, three sacks, 11 pass deflections, while adding three interceptions and two forced fumbles. Primarily a slot corner, Maulet will look to carve out a role in a secondary desperate for strong cornerback play.

In other signing news the Ravens are also reportedly in agreement on a one-year deal with former Seattle Seahawks long snapper Tyler Ott. Ott, a 2020 Pro Bowler as a member of the Seahawks, will look to be the Ravens full time long snapper in 2023 as starter Nick Moore reportedly tore his Achilles during a training session this offseason, Moore had not missed a game for the Ravens the last two seasons.

Ravens LS Nick Moore tore his Achilles while training in preparation for the season. That explains why Ravens had a long snapper tryout today that was won by former Seattle Seahawk and 2020 Pro Bowl selection, Tyler Ott. @AaronWilson_NFL first reported Ott’s pending signing.

Ott missed all of the 2022 season after a shoulder injury force him to have surgery before the season opener. Ott was placed on injured reserve following the surgery effectively ending his season. While its a bit of blow to the Ravens special teams unit that prides itself on consistency, Ott, Punter/Holder Jordan Stout, and Kicker Justin Tucker will have the entire duration of training camp and three preseason games to work out any hiccups ahead of Week one.
