Earlier this week, NFL reporter Aaron Wilson suggested the Seattle Seahawks expressed interest in quarterback Deshaun Watson.
“Seahawks are interested in Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson,” Wilson reported. “Seattle is expected to explore trade scenarios for the three-time Pro Bowl passer.”
Aaron Wilson isn’t the only one connecting Watson and the Seahawks either. NFL Network insider Daniel Jeremiah also spoke with several people in the know. According to his conversations, insiders believe Watson will end up in Seattle.
“In talking to friends around the league, the expectation from every single one of them is that when it’s all said and done Deshaun Watson is gonna be the quarterback of the Seattle Seahawks,” Jeremiah said on his podcast.
Here’s more of what Jeremiah had to say:
I haven’t talked to anybody who thinks Pete Carroll is gonna take this thing down to the studs with [general manager] John Schneider and this is gonna be a three- or four-year rebuild. Again, [I don’t have] any personal knowledge of that situation, but everybody in the league that I’ve talked to expects this to be the outcome.
The move could make sense for the Seahawks, who just shipped Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos.
Teams are waiting for Watson’s legal situation to play out before making a move. Clarity on that situation could be coming as soon as today.
Will Seattle make a move for Watson? We’ll find out in the comings days.
