Bruce Arians’ decision to step down as the head coach of the Buccaneers sparked an interesting conspiracy theory involving Tom Brady.
There are countless NFL fans that believe Brady would only return to Tampa Bay if Arians was no longer the head coach. Arians tried his best to debunk that narrative during this Thursday’s press conference.
“We have a great relationship,” Arians told reporters. “All the players, every one of them has gotten cussed out, including him. That’s just part of me. We have a great relationship. As soon as he retired, we texted each other every week… People gotta write s—. It couldn’t be further from the truth.”
Although this was a somewhat convincing statement from Arians, the latest column from Boston Sports Journal’s Greg Bedard states that Arians and Brady didn’t really get along well on the football field.
In fact, Bedard claims Brady “loathed” playing for Arians.
“If you’re still under the delusion that Tom Brady’s unretirement and Bruce Arians’ retirement two weeks later were unrelated, then I have some prime swampland to sell you,” Bedard wrote. “Brady loathed playing for Arians and his respect for Belichick professionally grew as a result. Brady still has major issues with Belichick that will likely never go away, but not on the football field.”

Honestly, it’s tough to figure out which story is the correct one when it comes to a situation like this.
What we do know, however, is that Arians and Brady were able to put aside their differences to win a Super Bowl. That has to count for something.
