Luka Doncic has been sidelined for the first two games of the Dallas Mavericks‘ playoff series against the Utah Jazz. However, he could return to the court as early as this Thursday.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, there’s optimism that Doncic will return for Game 3 or Game 4.
Charania said Doncic’s calf strain has improved over the past week. The Mavericks will have a better idea of when Doncic can return after he goes through some workouts this week.
Despite not having Doncic on the court for the first two games of the playoffs, the Mavericks enter Thursday’s game with the series tied. Jalen Brunson put the team on his back this Monday night, scoring 41 points in a Game 2 win.
Sources: There’s optimism Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic will return for Game 3 (Thursday) or Game 4 (Saturday) vs. Jazz. The calf strain that Doncic suffered on April 10 is improving and workouts over next two days could determine comeback timing.

When asked about Doncic earlier this week, Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd said his All-Star point guard is in a great place mentally.
“As I’ve said from the start, he’s in a great place mentally. He’s been happy, he’s been joking,” Kidd said, via ESPN. “Sometimes, when you get hurt, you can get grumpy. If you’re older and you get hurt, you get grumpy. But he’s young. He’s doing everything he can do up to this point and hopefully he can play soon, but if he can’t play, we got to play without him.”
The Mavericks should have a new update on Doncic in the coming days.
