Carolina Panthers linebacker Damien Wilson, who was arrested last weekend and charged with assault, returned to the team’s offseason workouts Monday after leaving jail on a $5,000 bound.
According to ESPN’s David Newton, Wilson attended the first day of offseason activities in Charlotte, but he was not at Bank of America Stadium on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Wilson was arrested in Frisco, Texas, after his ex-girlfriend, Ryan Sokolosky, said he threatened to kill her. She told police that Wilson choked her friend, stole her keys, and destroyed her laptop, which he wrapped in a blanket and claimed was her cat.
Per Newton, the police report determined that Wilson “assaulted Ryan causing bodily injury” as the primary aggressor.
Sokolosky told The Dallas Morning News that Wilson was drunk when coming out of the bushes in his apartment and threatened her with a tire iron.
Toby Shook, Wilson’s attorney, denied the allegations. Panthers defensive coordinator Phil Snow declined to comment on Wilson during a video call Tuesday.
