There’s growing concern amongst NFL teams about the future of No. 11 overall pick Justin Fields.
On Monday, a piece in The Athletic touched on Fields’ long-term viability as the Bears’ franchise quarterback; pointing to the way he throws the ball.
“People around the league believe that Justin Fields’ ‘elongated’ throwing motion could be a long-term concern,” Bears beat writer Kevin Fishbain said.
From Indianapolis, what we heard about the Bears (and former Bears) at the combine on:
• Justin Fields
• Mitch Trubisky
• Ryan Poles
• Ian Cunningham
• Roquan Smith
• Ryan Pace

Fields certainly had his share of rookie growing pains in 2021. In 12 appearances in his rookie season, the Ohio State product completed just 59 percent of his passes for 1,870 yards and seven touchdowns to just 10 interceptions.
But it wasn’t all bad for Fields in Chicago. The first-rounder showed flashes of dynamic play, especially with his legs. And now with a new staff in place set to build around his strengths, Bears fans are hoping year two will showcase a big jump in growth.
At 6-foot-3, 228-pounds, Justin Fields has all the tools to be a top-tier QB. However, some teams are rumored to believe that throwing motion will hold him back from achieving his full potential.
That throwing motion wasn’t really questioned much in the lead up to the draft. But perhaps at NFL game speed it’s become more pronounced.
