“Rival GMs” of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers believe the franchise will “aggressively pursue” Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson this offseason, per NFL insider Jason La Canfora.
“There are plenty of people in the Bucs organization who would aggressively pursue Deshaun Watson. Rival GMs believe they will be a factor in this,” La Canfora wrote on Twitter.

On Friday, a Houston grand jury declined to indict Watson on the multiple criminal complaints levied against him. While he’s still faced with several civil cases of alleged sexual assault and misconduct, the three-time Pro Bowler has been cleared of all criminal charges.
With this news, several NFL teams are expected to be fully in the mix to land Watson in a trade deal — including the Bucs. With the retirement of all-time great quarterback Tom Brady earlier this year, the Tampa Bay organization are notably thin at the QB position heading into the 2022 season. As of right now, the team’s quarterback room consists of veteran backup Blaine Gabbert and second-year signal caller Kyle Trask.
Based on some of the other reported trade packages for Watson, the Bucs would have to give up quite a bit in order to land the 26-year-old QB. A deal for Watson will likely net multiple first-rounders, some later-round picks and some young talent.
