Well, it appears the Carolina Panthers aren’t the only NFC South team interested in Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.
On Friday, NFL Network’s Jane Slater said the New Orleans Saints were one of multiple teams that kept an eye on Watson’s legal process.
Less than 24 hours later, Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk confirmed that New Orleans is interested in Watson.
“With Payton now gone, and despite a high degree of continuity on the coaching staff, that Saints are indeed interested in Watson, PFT has confirmed,” Florio wrote.
The Saints could have had Deshaun Watson with the eleventh overall pick in 2017. Former coach Sean Payton wasn’t interested. Post-Payton, the Saints have interest in Watson. https://t.co/mNsoiCyjRp

Of course, the Saints aren’t the only team being linked to Watson this offseason. The Browns, Buccaneers, Eagles, Panthers and Seahawks have been mentioned as potential suitors.
If the Saints are serious about landing Watson, they’ll need to find a way to take on his $35 million salary. That’s a hefty price tag for a team that is still over the salary cap.
The Saints have proven time and time again that they can manipulate the cap. That being said, they have their own free agents to worry about. It’s highly unlikely they’re content with losing Terron Armstead and Marcus Williams in the same offseason.
