No reunion with Jayden Daniels
It was quiet on the Brandon Aiyuk trade front, but some smoke signals started coming from San Francisco earlier this week. The 49ers top wide receiver is looking for a big payday, and his team hasn’t been willing to match his price. He has been hanging out with his friend, and former ASU teammate tea, Jayden Daniels this summer, and talking about playing with him again, this time in Washington.
There has been trade speculation for months, but new GM Adam Peters hasn’t seemed willing to meet the price of both the trade, and the new contract Aiyuk is looking for in the first year of a major roster “recalibration”.
The latest report NBC’s Matt Maiocco says that Peters and the Washington Commanders have removed themselves from trade discussions(along with the Pittsburgh Steelers who balked at the 49ers trade demands).
The New England Patriots and Cleveland Browns have the framework for a deal in place per Maiocco, and Aiyuk could be traded to one of those AFC teams soon. Aiyuk was reportedly looking for top WR money, likely $30+ million per year, and the 49ers were looking for a first round pick plus more.
San Francisco could be looking for a veteran WR like the Browns’ Amari Cooper in return with a package of picks. It’s now up to Aiyuk to agree to a contract with one of those teams, or continue with his hold in until he gets the deal he’s looking for from the right team.
BREAKING: The 49ers have the framework of a Brandon Aiyuk trade with both the Browns and the Patriots, a source told @MaioccoNBCS.
Now it’s up to Aiyuk to decide if he will accept either team’s contract terms https://t.co/8DIfq9rQMV

The 49ers gave permission to Aiyuk to negotiate potential contracts with the Browns, Patriots, Washington Commanders and Pittsburgh Steelers, the source said.
The Commanders have removed themselves from trade talks for Aiyuk, and the Steelers effectively no longer are an option after they declined to meet the 49ers’ trade demands, the source said.
“We have not heard Washington and the Commanders bubbling up as of recently, as far as them being one of the top contenders right now.” https://t.co/opVb7KVnTH
