Report: Titans May Send “Odd Man Out” in Possible Blockbuster Trade

July 18, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

After three unproductive seasons with the team, the Tennessee Titans could send wide receiver Treylon Burks to a new team in a possible trade. According to a source, one report believes Burks is the “odd man out” in the team’s receiver depth chart after acquiring five pass-catchers this offseason to supplement first-round pick quarterback Cam Ward. Burks hasn’t been able to get any production as he’s been the subject of trade rumors since last season, but it seems more like he could be a cut candidate, too. Originally selected in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, it’s fair to label the former Arkansas product as a “bust,” so a trade might be better for the Titans, as they would rather get something out of him sooner rather than later.

However, the longer that they wait, the value will go out the window, and Burks is too buried in the wideout depth chart for him to even make a comeback. He is entering the final year of his contract, and weapons like Calvin Ridley, Tyler Lockett and Van Jefferson will eat up most of the snaps in the aerial attack. The Titans won’t get the best investment in return for Burks, so it’ll probably be at least a late-round draft pick. Burks needs a huge reset, and these teams could give him that.

Possible Next Teams

New Orleans Saints

Why not? The New Orleans Saints are probably entering a rebuilding era, even though General Manager Mickey Loomis refuses. Between Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler, the Saints need some solid contributors who could develop in the background while Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed and Brandin Cooks will attempt to carve out chemistry with the new starting signal-caller. Burks won’t start, but since Marquez Valdes-Scantling had an exploding 2024 campaign, it could be the same case with Burks at the right moment.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Meanwhile, Aaron Rodgers could be the quarterback who finally brings out the best in Burks. Despite signing Scotty Miller and Robert Woods, the Steelers are better off building a wide receiver roster that contains Burks, Roman Wilson and Calvin Austin behind DK Metcalf. If they want long-term success, Rodgers could use someone like Burks to give them some untapped potential in the aerial attack.

Washington Commanders

The offseason drama continues for the Washington Commanders as wide receiver Terry McLaurin will probably skip training camp until he gets a new deal. This means Deebo Samuel, Luke McCaffrey and Michael Gallup will have to rotate the starting reps, which is bad news for Jayden Daniels. If the Commanders can’t get a deal done for McLaurin, they could get Burks only if he becomes a free agent.

Dallas Cowboys

However, the Dallas Cowboys are probably the most logical destination for Burks. After getting an unproven Jonathan Mingo last season, it wouldn’t be too surprising for the Cowboys to trade for Burks to salvage the receiver depth chart behind CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens and Jalen Tolbert. Perhaps, the Cowboys and Titans could exchange by sending Mingo for Burks.
