Less than three hours before the 2022 men’s NCAA Tournament bracket is revealed, Richmond has emerged as a major bid thief.
The sixth-seed in the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament, Richmond rallied from six-point deficit in the final 1:35 to beat top-seeded Davidson 64-62. Matt Grace scored the winning points on a conventional three-point play with 19 seconds left.
With Davidson already projected to be safe as an at-large team regardless of today’s result, that means the A-10 officially becomes a two-bid league.
Therefore, whoever would have been the “Last Team In” the field of 68 had the Spiders lost is about to get bumped to the NIT.

The bubble is especially chaotic this year. As a result, there are a number of teams–Xavier, Wyoming, Notre Dame, Rutgers, Oklahoma, SMU to name some–who could have just lost an at-large tourney berth to Richmond’s late-game heroics.
We will find out which team it was during the NCAA Tournament Selection Show on CBS at 6 p.m. ET.
