Even at 44 years old, Tom Brady can carve up a defense with ease. During the Tampa Bay Buccaneers‘ season opener, the seven-time Super Bowl champion completed 32 of 50 pass attempts for 379 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions.
Half of Brady’s touchdown passes went to Rob Gronkowski, who looked very sharp against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night. He finished Week 1 with eight receptions for 90 yards and two touchdowns.
One of Gronkowski’s touchdowns came on a nifty audible from Brady. After seeing how the Cowboys’ defense lined up, Brady told Gronkowski to block and release. That ended up being a great decision by the veteran quarterback, as Gronkowski found himself wide open for an easy score.
When talking about that play during his postgame press conference, Gronkowski couldn’t help but make a joke about Brady’s age.
“He just sees it all on the field. It’s impressive,” Gronkowski told reporters. “I mean the guy’s been playing for like 80 years, seen every defense, seen every play.”
“@TomBrady‘s been playing for like 80 years.” 😂

Brady isn’t in his 80th season, but Gronkowski is right about him seeing just about every defensive look possible.
Next up for Brady and the Buccaneers is a showdown with the Falcons. They should be able to put together another strong showing on the offensive side of the ball.
