Brandon Coleman talks to the media after practice
Rookie offensive lineman Brandon Coleman just completed the third practice of his first NFL training camp. Coleman, a focal point of the left tackle position group battle, has begun seeing snaps in practice as the starting right tackle. Lynell Willingham of 106.7 the Fan and mymcmedia, spoke to Coleman after practice to discuss his development as camp has moved along.
“My philosophy always was, even in college, just be ready, wherever to play at,” Coleman said about his comfortability with playing right tackle. “I’ve been practicing that in the off-season, in college, working all spots other than center.”
Coleman said that his coach, presumably offensive line coach Bobby Johnson, just threw him out there, but trying to be comfortable at the position is what he tries to stay ready for because he’ll never know where his team would need him. During Coleman’s time at TCU, he saw less than 30 snaps (out of 2,250) on the right side of the offensive line over the past three years. However, according to Coleman, his off-season preparation prepares him for the moment when Washington wants to use him on the right side instead.
