After 11 seasons in the NFL, former Washington defensive end Ryan Kerrigan is retiring from the NFL.
Kerrigan, the No. 16 overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft, spent his first 10 seasons in Washington. With Chase Young and Montez Sweat on the roster, Washington parted ways with Kerrigan after the 2020 season.
In 2021, he spent one season with the Philadelphia Eagles, where he played limited snaps in 16 games.
During his 10 seasons with Washington, Kerrigan recorded 95.5 sacks, 26 forced fumbles, three interceptions and three touchdowns. He didn’t miss a game in the first eight seasons of his NFL career and was a four-time Pro Bowl selection.
Kerrigan left Washington as the franchise’s all-time sack leader.
One of the bright spots in owner Daniel Snyder’s tenure, Kerrigan signed a one-day contract with Washington so he could retire with the franchise he loved.
