Despite a ton of early offseason rumors to the contrary, Sean McVay is staying on as head coach of the Los Angeles Rams. And he’s already excited for the 2022 NFL season.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, McVay used two words to describe how he’s been feeling since the season ended. He described himself as “refreshed” and “rejuvenated,” and thinks he feels that way as a result of the energy and excitement coming from the team.
“I finished this season probably as refreshed and as rejuvenated as I’ve ever been,” McVay said, via the Associated Press. “I think a large part of that is being around coaches and players that give you that energy and that excitement. I’m really excited about coaching.”
There was a ton of speculation that McVay was feeling burned out and might leave the Rams to take a lucrative offer in broadcasting. But it would appear there was no fire to go with that smoke.

Sean McVay is off to one of the most incredible starts to a head coaching career that the NFL has ever seen. He’s 55-26 in five seasons with four playoff appearances, three division titles, to NFC Championship wins and a Super Bowl title.
The 36-year-old head coach already has five assistants who have gone on to become NFL head coaches in their own right.
McVay has a long way to go before he’s on par with the true legends of NFL coaching like Bill Belichick, Bill Walsh, Tom Landry and Vince Lombardi. But if his momentum continues and the wins keep accumulating, he may someday.
How will the Rams do in 2022?
