We’re not sure what Saint Peter’s had for its pregame meal before today’s game against North Carolina, but we know if the team served sandwiches, Peacocks guard Doug Edert did not eat them.
Edert, whose mustache and sharp shooting has made him a cult figure during SPU’s Cinderella NCAA Tournament run, does not like sandwiches, at all. The junior from Nutley, N.J. made that clear in an interview with ESPN’s Jeremy Schaap.
Edert told Schaap he thinks he tried a bite of a chicken parmigiana sandwich once, but that’s it. He will eat chicken and bread but doesn’t like putting those things together.
“I’m the pickiest eater you’ll ever meet,” Edert said.
Doug Edert won’t eat sandwiches, seriously 😅🥪 @PeacocksMBB

Weird, but hey, whatever works. Edert’s picky diet has fueled one of the best shooters in the country and allowed him to spark the most improbable Elite Eight journey in college basketball history.
Saint Peter’s is one win away from the Final Four and will take on North Carolina at 5:09 p.m. ET tonight for the right to face Duke next Saturday night.
