The Steelers have elected to make it a family affair in Pittsburgh.
With the 208th overall pick in this year’s draft, the franchise selected Michigan State tight end/full back Connor Heyward — the younger brother of longtime Steelers star defensive lineman Cam Heyward.
“Guess I got a roommate @ConnorHeyward1,” the elder Heyward wrote on Twitter after his brother’s name was called in the sixth round.
This is cool: The #Steelers are taking TE Connor Heyward at No. 208 overall in the sixth round. His brother also plays in the NFL and for them. https://t.co/bKrDUQlcpJ

The NFL world took to Twitter to react to this intriguing story.
“This might have been the easiest thing to predict,” one fan wrote.
“Steelers got 2 Watts and 2 Heywards. Too bad @JJWatt didn’t want to complete the full house,” another added.
Not “like” 8 – It’s a legit 8 now. Carlos and Khalil Davis, Trey and Terrell Edmunds, TJ and Derrek Watt, and now Cam and Connor Heyward. 🤣🤣🤣

The recently-drafted Heyward just finished his fifth and final season with Michigan State. His best season came in 2018 when he logged 778 yards and five touchdowns from scrimmage as a combo rushing/receiving threat.
The elder Heyward, who was selected by the Steelers with the No. 31 overall pick in the 2011 draft, just finished his 11th season in Pittsburgh. In 2021, he notched 10.0 sacks and 89 tackles en route to his third All-Pro selection.
