Late Friday night, ESPN analyst Kimberley Martin said five teams showed interest in Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.
She listed the Pittsburgh Steelers among the teams that were monitoring the legal situation against Watson. Following the jury’s decision not to indict Watson, the trade rumors started heating up.
Not long later, multiple reporters came out and suggested the Steelers are NOT interested in a trade for Watson. CBS Sports insider Jason La Canfora was one of those who suggested the Steelers won’t be making a trade for the star quarterback.
“The Steelers are not going to be a part of this Deshaun Watson pursuit,” La Canfora reported.
“I know a lot of fans wanted it but this really isn’t that surprising,” one fan said.

Others noted the Steelers recently hired Brian Flores – who was connected to Deshaun Watson last season during trade rumors.
“So much for the Watson-Flores thing,” the fan said.

At least one fan is glad the Steelers aren’t pursuing Watson.
“Proud of you Steelers. Suffer through the Rudolph pain if we gota. Here We Go,” the fan said.

With Ben Roethlisberger retirement, it would make sense for the Steelers to consider all quarterback options. However, given Big Ben’s checkered past with sexual misconduct and the nature of the allegations against Watson, it seems Pittsburgh isn’t interested.
