Last week began talk that the NFL might be developing a COVID problem.
The first two weeks of November saw 81 positive tests in the NFL.
This week opened with Washington, the Los Angeles Rams, and Cleveland Browns being hit hardest with positive test results.
Both Cleveland and Washington have both lost their top two quarterbacks, and Washington actually claimed QB Garrett Gilbert from the Patriots practice squad, and Gilbert may actually be forced to start Tuesday against the Eagles in Philadelphia, no less.
Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski joined his top two quarterbacks, testing positive as well.
Friday, the NHL announced the Colorado Avalanche, Florida Panthers and Calgary Flames will postpone their games through at least Dec. 23.
In the NBA, unvaccinated Kyrie Irving has been reinstated by the New Jersey Nets for practices and games, and the Chicago Bulls hit hard by positive tests have led the way in the NBA, beginning to postpone two of their games this week.
The NHL is nearly 100 percent vaccinated, the NBA 97 percent and the NFL 95 percent. Yet, this week has resulted in major increases in vaccinated players testing positive.
Yet, the NFL was willing to punish vaccinated players who were testing positive, yet were not themselves showing any signs of being ill.
In addition, the NFL was willing and eager to play games despite a tremendously weakened product and competitive disadvantage for three teams.
Was it true science driving the NFL?
Or might it have been the old adage, “The show must go on?”
