The Snyders give to help Ukrainian children

March 5, 2022 by Redskins Wire

Daniel and Tanya Snyder are using some of their wealth to reach out to fellow humans in need, desperate need.

Much more important than NFL football in the USA, we are all aware Russia began to invade Ukraine a week ago. Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky has inspired his Ukrainian people to resist, to be strong. When the United States offered him an escape from the inevitable harm that was coming from the Russian invasion, Zelensky responded, “I want ammunition, not a ride.”

The Russians are sending in such numbers of forces on land, a caravan of Army trucks and equipment was reported to be 40 miles in length. In a Zoom conference call with European Union leaders, Zelensky soberly conveyed the reality that it might be the last time they would see him alive. Consequently, he has inspired others across the world to help lend support however they can.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz responded proclaiming, “It is our duty to support Ukraine to the best of our ability in defending against Putin’s invading army. That is why we are delivering 1,000 anti-tank weapons and 500 #Stinger missiles to our friends in #Ukraine.” This comes from a Germany that in recent years has been more occupied with climate-change initiatives and pacifism. That is until the real world of evil leaders became more visible for them.

The Snyders, co-owners of the Washington Commanders don’t have anti-tank weapons nor Stinger weapons, but they are willing to give up some of what they do possess for those in need.

Thus, Daniel and Tanya are donating $300,000 to Ukrainian relief efforts designed to address specific needs. The donation will be then used primarily by Save the Children, USO Support Our Troops, World Central Kitchen and International Rescue Committee.

At least 400,000 children are on the move across Eastern Europe, fleeing the conflict in #Ukraine.

“We fled because we were scared,” Anna, a 29-year-old mother of two, told us. “The children don’t understand what’s happening.” #StopTheWarOnChildren https://t.co/Pi3OKyLtI9

Meanwhile our government’s administration continues to purchase over 600,000 barrels of oil daily from Russia. We are thankful there are wealthy Americans who will step up and commit real dollars of real aid, to real people in Ukraine under attack.

We’ve been tough (and accurately so) on Daniel Snyder and his lack of good leadership in the Washington football organization. But perhaps now is it time to say thank you to the Snyders when they give generously to those being savagely attacked?

Crises like a tyrant invading a country, planning to surround and starve out its capital city, should provide us some perspective. How much less important is NFL football when there are evil dictators in power over their military marching through a neighboring country mercilessly killing civilians?
