Washington welcomes the newest member of the family, Luke McCaffrey, after making him the 100th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Draft day is finally here and Washington has picked Rice WR Luke McCaffrey. Washington lost Curtis Samuel in free agency, and their supporting cast behind Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson needed to be upgraded. McCaffrey is a former QB who converted to WR.

How Will He Fit On The Team
One of the more underrated needs for Washington is at the wide receiver position with the departure of Curtis Samuel, coupled with the lack of development and production from Dyami Brown and others. If the coaching staff wants to add a “do-it-all” receiver they’ve lost with Samuel, Luke McCaffrey fits the bill. He is an under-the-radar option who can be a safety blanket in the short area, and can also stretch the field vertically if need be. Luke McCaffrey is a Day 3 option who could be a depth contributor for the Kliff Kingsbury’s new offense.
