Washington welcomes the newest member of the family, Mike Sainristil, after making him the 50th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Draft day is finally here and Washington has picked Michigan CB Mike Sainristil after trading down with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Commanders needed a CB early in this draft, and watched a run on them happen after they traded, and the Eagles picked Cooper DeJean. Sainristil has been described as the best player on Michigan’s defense, and one of the best defensive players in this draft. He’s a physical corner that should fit right in to the defense that Dan Quinn and Joe Whitt, Jr. are expected to run in Washington.

“Communication is a pillar of defense. With me being the nickel, I was setting the defense left to right. I set the calls and pre-snap alignment. The communication started with me.”
