Scott Frost and Co. added some much-needed pass rush help off the edge Saturday. According to Nebraska football reporter Mitch Sherman, the Cornhuskers landed TCU transfer Ochaun Mathis over former Big-12 rival Texas.
Per Sherman, “Ochaun Mathis selects Nebraska over Texas. The top available player in the transfer portal is coming to Lincoln, providing much needed help as a premier pass rusher.”

The plug-and-play defensive end will venture to Lincoln, Nebraska from Fort Worth after four seasons with the Horned Frogs.
Over the course of his career, Mathis recorded 135 total tackles, along with 15.5 sacks. With his biggest season coming in 2020 where he recorded nine of those QB takedowns.
Mathis entered the portal back in January, and initially Texas was thought to have the leg up. Especially after hiring former TCU head coach Gary Patterson to Steve Sarkisian’s staff.
However, the former three-star prospect decided to be a Husker, and will look to help get things turned around for Nebraska after five straight losing seasons; four of which came under head coach and alum Scott Frost.
