The Washington Commanders opened Thursday morning with a trade. General manager Adam Peters traded a conditional seventh-round draft pick to the Cleveland Browns for kicker Cade York.
But Peters wasn’t done.
Shockingly, the Commanders traded 2022 first-round pick Jahan Dotson and a fifth-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for a third-round pick and a pair of seventh-round choices. The move surprised everyone, even with Dotson struggling throughout training camp. Dyami Brown seemingly surpassed Dotson as Washington’s No. 2 wide receiver opposite Terry McLaurin.
How did everyone react to the news? Of course, former head coach Ron Rivera was trending on social media after the trade. Dotson’s trade means that two of Rivera’s former first-round picks were now traded, and the two others are on shaky ground.
Speaking of reactions, we took X — formerly Twitter — for some of those reactions.
