Garcia played two seasons for North Carolina before he decided to enter the transfer portal. In 2020-21, he appeared in 27 games as a freshman and averaged 13 points per game and close to seven rebounds per game while shooting 48% from the floor.
This past season, he played in 16 games and averaged nine points and close to six rebounds. He’ll now go to a Minnesota program that struggled again this past season.
The Golden Gophers finished 13th in the Big Ten with a 13-17 record and lost seven of their last eight games down the stretch.
Before originally committing to North Carolina, Garcia was a four-star recruit and the second-best recruit in Minnesota.
He was also the fourth-best power forward recruit and the No. 37 overall prospect, regardless of position, per 247Sports Composite.
