This Sunday, Urban Meyer will make his NFL head coaching debut for the Jacksonville Jaguars in a meaningful game. But before his game against the Houston Texans, Meyer has some final adjustments to make to his coaching staff.
On Thursday, the Jaguars announced the hiring of Kyle Caskey as their new offensive quality control coach. The team also promoted Carlos Polk to assistant special teams coordinator.
Caskey had been working for LSU as an analyst to start the year. But he has plenty of NFL experience. He’s spent the last two years as the running backs coach of the Detroit Lions – working under current Jaguars offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell. Prior to that, he spent nine seasons working for the Cincinnati Bengals.
Polk has been a coach in the NFL since 2010, working as the assistant special teams coach for the Chargers, Bucs and Cowboys. He previously played in eight NFL seasons as a running back.

Urban Meyer has worked hard to put together a staff of veteran coordinators and staff for his first season. While expectations for his first year in the NFL aren’t high, he’s expected to improve on last year’s 1-15 record.
The Jaguars have had double-digit losses in nine of their last 10 seasons and need someone to turn the ship around.
If Meyer can do that, then his legacy as one of the great coaches in American sports history will be secured. It will certainly give him a leg up on his longtime college football rival, Nick Saban.
Will Urban Meyer find success in Year 1 with the Jacksonville Jaguars?
