USC wide receiver Drake London to take top 30 visit to Washington

April 17, 2022 by Redskins Wire

USC wide receiver Drake London is considered one of the top wide receiver prospects in the 2022 NFL draft. In a draft full of talented smaller receivers, the 6-foot-4, 213-pound London stands out, with some comparing him to Tampa Bay Buccaneers star Mike Evans.

While some of the other top wide receivers, such as Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave, ran blazing 40 times at the NFL combine, London did not run, as he was still recovering from a broken ankle suffered in October.

On Friday, London had his official pro day at USC, and many around the NFL were present to see London run.

Unfortunately, London did not run the 40 but did other drills and likely cemented his status as a top-15 pick.

The Washington Commanders, who select No. 11 overall, need help at wide receiver. And according to John Keim of ESPN, Washington will use a top 30 visit on London next week.

After attending his pro day at USC, Washington will host WR Drake London in a visit this week. He would fill a desire to add a big WR target opposite Terry McLaurin. … here’s @Jordan_Reid on London https://t.co/RrBIS1RJ5M via @YouTube

The Commanders were present at London’s pro day Friday, with top executive Marty Hurney among those present.

London, a former basketball standout, can play outside or inside as a “big slot.” While he likely doesn’t possess the top-end speed as some of the other receivers, London wins with his size and body control. He plays like a big wideout, something not all taller receivers do.

London spoke on why chose not to run the 40.

“Everybody has six to eight weeks, a couple months to really train for that, whether it’s broad jump or vertical,” London said via Paolo Uggetti of ESPN. “I was just trying to get back running.”

In eight games last season, London caught 88 passes for 1,084 yards and seven touchdowns. He’d be an ideal fit opposite Terry McLaurin for the Commanders.
