Vernon Davis from Washington football to the Hollywood stage

March 5, 2022 by Redskins Wire

Vernon Davis was accustomed to being in front of the camera from his days in the NFL with San Francisco, Denver and Washington, so he figured, why not make movies as well?

Davis, the sixth overall player selected in the 2006 NFL Draft by San Francisco, caught 441 receptions in his ten NFL seasons for 5,640 yards (12.8ypr) and 55 touchdowns, acts in the action-packed “A Day to Die”, starring Bruce Willis, Kevin Dillon and Frank Grillo.

Following his four NFL seasons as Washington’s tight end, Davis retired, stayed local, residing in McLean, Virginia. Growing up in the city, playing football for Dunbar High in Washington, Davis had no liking for acting, as he was simply into sports, starring in football, basketball and track & field at Dunbar, being rated as the No. 4 TE in the nation by Rivals.com.

However, once in San Francisco with the 49ers, the former Maryland Terrapin decided to look into taking some drama classes, he enjoyed it, and today he enjoys the opportunity of getting to work with such stars as Bruce Willis in his current film.

Davis also recently appeared on Talk Shop Live introducing his new energy drink loaded with antioxidants, vitamin C and clean caffeine.

Hey, guys! ICYMI, I was on @TalkShopLive yesterday to talk about my new plant-powered sparkling energy drink, @DrinkRiff that’s loaded with immunity boosting vitamin C, powerful antioxidants, pure ingredients and clean caffeine.

Some will recall Davis also was a contestant on Dancing With the Stars during the Fall 2020 season. Davis was partnered with Peta Mergatroyd and lasted until the sixth week, being the fifth couple eliminated.

“A Day to Die” his current film sees Davis and his former military friends called to help rescue his friend’s wife who has been kidnapped. It is the eighth film for Davis thus far in his young acting career.
