The Commanders won their home opener to get the first victory of the Dan Quinn era, and, once again, Jayden Daniels was probably the most impressive of the three rookie starting quarterbacks, showing the athletic skills that made him the 2nd overall pick in April’s draft. Daniels led the Commanders offense to a score on each of the team’s 7 offensive drives in the game; Tress Way had to hold for 7 field goals but was never called on to punt in the team’s 2024 home opener at Northwest Stadium.
The Commanders finished with 425 yards of total offense, with no turnovers. By the end of the weekend, Washington was in first place in the NFC East, with a 1-1 overall record and the only team with a division win.
Through 2 weeks, Daniels ranks 6th among quarterbacks in the NFL in EPA per play (+.22), the only rookie quarterback to rank higher than 29th.
He’s been nominated for Rookie of the Week — again — after winning the honor for his game against the Buccaneers in Week 1.
