This week, he can break the record he set last week

In a game in which the Commanders the Commanders were flagged for 13 accepted penalties that cost 108 yards and kept the offense constantly behind schedule, no player was more key to the victory than Jayden Daniels.

This was an exciting game, played in prime time in front of a pumped-up home crowd and a national (international even) TV audience. With the win, Washington locked up a playoff berth and moved into the 6th seed wildcard in the NFC with just one game remaining in the regular season.

After sixteen weeks, the Commanders are 3rd in rushing yards, 4th in total yards and 5th in total points scored. The team is solidly in second place in the NFC East, and is currently positioned for the 6th seed in the NFC playoffs. These impressive achievements, coming in a rebuilding year in which the entire franchise was stripped down and rebuilt in a matter of months, are largely attributable to the high level of play and professionalism of Washington’s rookie quarterback, who is having an incredible season.

For my entire adult life, I’ve never spoke about this team in this way.

And it’s fun. @gmfb pic.twitter.com/JBjzWl3TvO

Kyle Brandt: We need people to see Jayden Daniels; he is the best thing going right now – the coolest, most fun, most astonishing thing. The best show, right now! It’s not the Vikings; it’s not the Chiefs – it is the Commanders offense, and the Commanders as a whole, and I have never said that in my life.

QB Jayden Daniels (820) has passed Robert Griffin III (815) for the most rushing yards by a rookie quarterback in NFL history.

QB Jayden Daniels joins Mike Vick as the only quarterbacks in NFL history to record 225-plus passing yards, three-plus passing touchdowns and 125-plus rushing yards in a single game.

— Washington Commanders PR (@Wash_PR) December 30, 2024

QB Jayden Daniels has posted a 69.4 completion percentage through 16 games. That ranks No. 2 all-time in franchise history in a single season and is a rookie single season franchise record (minimum 16 games played).

— Washington Commanders PR (@Wash_PR) December 30, 2024

QB Jayden Daniels has scored 31 combined touchdowns (passing and rushing) this season and moved past Russell Wilson for No. 3 all-time by a rookie QB in NFL history.

— Washington Commanders PR (@Wash_PR) December 30, 2024

A stat that blows my mind…

Washington has converted 19 of 22 4th down plays this season.

Hail Jayden!
