Six weeks and six nominations for Jayden Daniels as the Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Week. He won the award 4 times in the first 5 weeks of the season.
This week, he has been nominated for his outstanding play on the road in a tough loss to the AFC North Baltimore Ravens.

A week ago, Bears fans were outraged that Caleb Williams didn’t win the award. They must not have seen the dominance of Daniels over the Browns, and overlooked the fact that it was so complete that Daniels was relaxing on the bench in the fourth quarter while his backup, Marcus Mariota, mopped up for him.
Those same Bears fans also seemed to miss the point that this is an award that is based on fan voting, and that, if they wanted their guy to win, all they had to do was vote for him.
They will have a lot of motivation to do so this week, as Caleb Williams played perhaps his best NFL game to date, putting up a gaudy stat line — 23 of 29 attempts (79.3 percent) for 226 yards and 4 touchdowns for a 124.4 rating, with 56 rushing yards — against the 1-5 Jacksonville Jaguars in London.
Jayden Daniels’ performance this week involved high level play against one of the NFL’s best teams, the NFC North division-leading 4-2 Baltimore Ravens.
Probably no play typified Daniels’ toughness and skill more than his late-game 4th down TD pass to Terry McLaurin.

Dan Quinn talked about that play in his Monday media session:
I love the fact that when [Jayden Daniels] is in [pressure situations] the decision making [is] there. He did a really good job of taking care of the ball, [making] the right decisions — where is the location? I thought some of the best rips of his season actually happened yesterday in some tight window throws. That touchdown to Terry in teh corner of the end zone on a fourth down play was just fantastic. I thought moments like that were ones that I said, ‘Okay, he’s really dialed in’. And that’s not just throwing it well, that’s playing quarterback well.
Jayden’s individual statistics for the game were impressive, as usual. He completed 24 of 35 attempts (68.6 percent) for 269 yards and 2 touchdowns for a 110.3 rating. He also rushed for 22 yard
After six weeks, the Commanders have the highest scoring offense in the league, having put up 178 points (29.7 points per game), tied with the Buccaneers. The team’s only two losses of the season have come against Tampa Bay, and the next-highest scoring offense (177 point), the Baltimore Ravens.
For my entire adult life, I’ve never spoke about this team in this way.

Kyle Brandt: We need people to see Jayden Daniels; he is the best thing going right now – the coolest, most fun, most astonishing thing. The best show, right now! It’s not the Vikings; it’s not the Chiefs – it is the Commanders offense, and the Commanders as a whole, and I have never said that in my life.
Daniels’ outstanding play has helped the Commanders to grab and hold onto sole possession of first-place in the NFC East after six weeks of play.
NFC East Standings through Week 6:
1. Commanders 4-2 (1-0)
2. Eagles 3-2 (0-0)
3. Cowboys 3-3 (1-0)
4. Giants 2-4 (0-1)— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) October 14, 2024
