Commanders 2023 Stats Insights

  • Despite having a bottom-five defense that ranked worst in the NFL (388.9 yards allowed per game) last season, Washington put up better results on the other side of the ball, ranking 24th in the NFL by averaging 312.8 yards per game.
  • With 30.5 points allowed per game on defense, which ranked worst in the NFL last season, DC was forced to lean on its 24th-ranked offense (19.4 points per contest) to keep it in games.
  • The Commanders sported the 18th-ranked passing offense last season (219.1 passing yards per game), and they were less effective on the other side of the ball, ranking worst with 262.2 passing yards allowed per game.
  • Washington compiled 93.6 rushing yards per game on offense (27th in the NFL) last season, and it ranked 27th on the other side of the ball with 126.8 rushing yards allowed per game.
  • Despite sporting a bottom-five defense on third down that ranked fifth-worst in the NFL last season (41.6% third-down percentage), the Commanders had more success on offense, ranking 24th in the NFL by posting a 35.6% third-down percentage.

Commanders 2023 Team Leaders

  • Brian Robinson Jr. rushed for 733 yards (48.9 per game) and five touchdowns in 15 games last year.
  • Also, Robinson had 36 receptions for 368 yards and four touchdowns.
  • On the ground with the Chargers last season, Austin Ekeler scored five touchdowns and accumulated 628 yards (44.9 per game).
  • Ekeler also had 51 receptions for 436 yards and one TD.
  • In 17 games a season ago, Terry McLaurin had 79 catches for 1,002 yards (58.9 per game) and four touchdowns.
  • In the passing game, Jahan Dotson scored four TDs, catching 49 balls for 518 yards (30.5 per game).
  • As a key defensive contributor, Bobby Wagner posted 183 tackles, 11.0 TFL, and 3.5 sacks in 17 games for the Seahawks last year.
  • Wagner compiled 3.5 sacks to go with 11.0 TFL and 183 tackles in 17 games for the Seahawks.
  • Frankie Luvu posted 125 tackles, 10.0 TFL, 5.5 sacks, and five passes defended in 17 games for the Panthers a season ago.
  • On defense in 2023, Jamin Davis contributed 89 tackles, 8.0 TFL, three sacks, and one interception in 13 games.
