Joe Whitt Jr. and Kliff Kingsbury speak to the media after practice

Today was the last training camp in front of the fans. The Washington Commanders will be having a joint practice with the New York Jets on Thursday as both teams prepare for their preseason game in New Jersey on Saturday. The team’s first unofficial depth chart is getting released this morning, and rookie QB Jayden Daniels and LT Brandon Coleman are both listed as the starters, and will get the start vs the Jets.

Head coach Dan Quinn spoke to the media before practice, and his coordinators were behind the mic afterwards. Defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr. feels good about the speed of the defense, but he wants to see more turnovers because “ball is life”. He said CB Mike Sainristil doesn’t carry himself like a rookie, and he has a command of the “star” position. Daron Payne and Jonathan Allen are as advertised, and they have done a good job against the run and at setting the edge.

Offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury has been impressed with rookie QB Jayden Daniels, and he appreciates his consistency in everything that he does. He was asked about Daniels sliding after recent comments, and Kingsbury laughed and said they’re harping on it during camp. He’s excited about the combination of Brian Robinson Jr and Austin Ekeler this season. Ekeler hasn’t lost a step after last year’s injury-shortened season. Kingsbury tried to ease concerns about the offensive line, saying he feels great about where it’s heading.

I sat down with Commanders RB Brian Robinson Jr. today.

Going into his third season in Washington, BRob is ready to roll.

He told me, “this is going to be the one where I can go out and be free and just play and be happy. One of those perfect feelings, man.” pic.twitter.com/cmVasmNBbA

Brian Robinson Jr. & Austin Ekeler

Many believe this is going to be a dangerous backfield tandem.

I asked BRob, why they are dangerous together?
