Gonzo’s back!
The Washington Commanders announced their first re-signing of a pending free agent today. Kicker Zane Gonzalez was the last kicker in the carousel for Washington and he has earned a shot to win the job during training camp and the preseason. He was signed after Austin Seibert was injured, and it’s possible Washington brings him back for another chance to be the Commanders kicker.
Gonzalez played in 6 regular season games, and Washington’s three playoff games. He was 12 of 15 attempts(80%) on field goals, and he was a perfect 27 for 27 on extra points. Gonzalez returns on a 1-year, $1.17 million contract. The team will also have other options in free agency and the draft to add competition on special teams.
