Injury updates
The Washington Commanders were back on the field for their third, and final, full day of practice as they prepare to host the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday in a pivotal NFC East matchup. Dan Quinn spoke to the media after today’s practice and said that only one player was ruled out today. Jonathan Allen returned to the practice field on Wednesday, and was limited every day, but didn’t wear a non-contact jersey for the first time today. Allen is returning from a partially torn pectoral, and Quinn said he was encouraged for a return to playing next weekend when Washington hosts the Atlanta Falcons.
Washington is dealing with an illness that has been running through the offense. Tyler Biadasz missed Sunday’s game against the Saints after being ruled out on gameday. Sam Cosmi missed the first two practices, and John Bates joined him in the sick bay yesterday. Both players participated in practice today, and should be in ready to play by Sunday.
Two players suffered concussions during the win over the Saints, and both of them were on the field today in regular jerseys. Jeremy Chinn has been a limited participant the last two days, doing individual drills on the side fields, but was a full participantt today. Zach Ertz had a vet rest day on Wednesday, but and was limited the next two days. Both players remain in the NFL’s concussion protocol, but could be ready to play on Sunday.
Four other players were on the injury report, but don’t have an injury designation for Sunday’s game. Michael Deiter started in place of Tyler Biadasz and he’s been dealing with an ankle injury. Clelin Ferrell continues to deal with the knee injury that has been affecting him since training camp. Luke McCaffrey has a shoulder injury. Daron Payne was on the injury report last Friday, but started vs the Saints. Everyone but Ferrell was a full participant today.
