The Washington Football Team was back on the field Wednesday, preparing for Sunday’s NFC East battle against the Dallas Cowboys. Washington would move just one game behind Dallas in the division with a win.
Earlier this week, head coach Ron Rivera was optimistic Washington would have a couple of defensive starters back on the field. Well, things didn’t go as Rivera had planned, as safety Landon Collins was sidelined with a foot injury. We will know by Friday if Collins plays on Sunday.
The other defensive starter Rivera hoped would return was defensive end Montez Sweat. Sweat spent the past few weeks on injured reserve after fracturing his jaw in Week 8 vs. Broncos.
Unfortunately, Sweat tested positive for COVID-19 and was transferred from IR to the reserve/COVID-19 list.
Speaking of bad injury news, Washington also placed tight end Logan Thomas on IR, ending his season. Thomas was injured on a questionable block by Las Vegas defensive end Yannick Ngakoue Sunday.
Running back J.D. McKissic remains in concussion protocol after missing Week 13. Rookie linebacker Jamin Davis is now in concussion protocol after suffering symptoms after Sunday’s game. Guard Wes Schweitzer continues to miss practice with an ankle injury.

Defensive tackle Jonathan Allen was limited Wednesday with a groin injury. Curtis Samuel, Brandon Scherff, Tyler Larsen and Ricky Seals-Jones were among the others limited. Washington hopes to get Seals-Jones back this week with Thomas out.
For Dallas, wide receiver Noah Brown and running back Tony Pollard miss practice. Wide receiver Cedrick Wilson was limited while running back Ezekiel Elliott was a full participant.
