On Friday, reports revealed that longtime Fox broadcaster Joe Buck is leaving the network to join ESPN as part of its Monday Night Football crew.
While Fox will now be without its top broadcaster, they aren’t coming up empty handed in the deal.
According to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, Fox will now receive the right to pick one Big Ten football game before ESPN in the 2022 season.
“Fox and ESPN first talked about compensation late last night. Fox will receive the rights to pick one Big 10 game before ESPN next season, a source with knowledge said. It’s a little more complicated than that, I’m told, but that is the gist,” Marchand wrote.

Buck still had one year and $11 million remaining on his contract with Fox, but the network allowed him to explore other options due to his longtime commitment to the company. The 52-year-old broadcaster’s new deal with ESPN is expected to be worth somewhere in the five-year, $60-75 million range.
Earlier this year, former Fox analyst Troy Aikman left for ESPN as well. Buck will now rejoin his longtime broadcasting partner in the booth as the new voice of Monday Night Football.
