Joe Buck’s move from FOX to ESPN has generated quite a few headlines over the past 24 hours. On Friday night, Andrew Marchand of the New York Post had an update on what went on behind the scenes for these two networks.
“Fox and ESPN first talked about compensation late last night. Fox will receive the rights to pick one Big 10 game before ESPN next season, a source with knowledge said. It’s a little more complicated than that, I’m told, but that is the gist,” Marchand wrote.
On Saturday afternoon, Ben Koo of Awful Announcing had an update on FOX’s pursuit of a prominent Big Ten game.
Koo is hearing that FOX will receive the Ohio State vs. Notre Dame game in exchange for Buck.
“Hearing this is almost assuredly Ohio State vs Notre Dame. Just hilarious that out of nowhere the sports media gods has delivered us a truly spicy and unforeseen development as ‘Fox trades Joe Buck to ESPN in exchange for Ohio State vs Notre Dame which will be a Big Noon game,’” Koo tweeted.

Ohio State and Notre Dame have such large fan bases, so the ratings for this matchup should be excellent.
Though it doesn’t exactly soften the blow when it comes to losing a talented broadcaster like Joe Buck, it does help FOX’s college football coverage out a decent bit.
